Fully Immersed batteries:

At Ultramax, we are advancing battery thermal management through a fully immersed cooling approach designed to deliver safer, more efficient, and longer-lasting energy systems. By surrounding battery cells with a carefully engineered dielectric fluid, heat is managed directly at the source, enabling uniform temperature control across the entire

module. This significantly reduces hotspots, improves performance consistency, and enhances reliability under demanding operating conditions.

Our system combines guided fluid flow with innovative semi-passive cooling, where buoyancy-driven convection naturally circulates heat away from the cells. This creates a self-regulating thermal effect, reducing reliance on active components while maintaining high cooling efficiency. By optimising how fluid interacts with each cell—across surfaces and edges—we achieve an effective balance between performance, manufacturability, and cost.

The concept has been successfully validated through laboratory testing on a 12V module, where the immersed cooling approach demonstrated strong thermal performance and stability. These results confirm the practicality of the technology and its readiness to move beyond concept into scalable applications.

By maintaining stable operating temperatures, this approach helps extend battery life, improve safety margins, and reduce total cost of ownership. Fully immersed battery systems represent a major step forward in next-generation energy solutions, combining advanced engineering with real-world deployability.
